Ask any babe what her idea of a great hair day looks like, and you’ll hear more or less the same adjectives. Shiny. Voluminous. Frizz-free. Better-than-a-shampoo-commercial. Agree? Good, we have a consensus. Babes want hair that could rival Jennifer Aniston’s in 1995. Or Tyra Banks’ in 1973. You get the point.
But here’s the problem: those great hair days we just defined can be few and far between.
Let’s get to the root of this, shall we? Healthy hair starts at the scalp. Take it from me, the guy who knows skincare from head to toe. Follow my four-step routine for a hair day that would make even Rapunzel jealous.
Step 1: Exfoliate with a scalp serum.
Are you already exfoliating your face and body? Good, now bring it up a notch. Your scalp needs the same attention. A serum will help you grow thicker and longer strands (think mermaid hair) by unclogging your hair follicles and restoring your roots.
The lactic acid in my Exfoliating Scalp Serum dissolves dead skin (i.e. itchy, flaky skin) leaving you with your healthiest hair yet. It’s gentle enough to use before most hair washes: apply it to dry roots, and keep it on for at least 10 minutes before shampooing for the best results.
Step 2: Exfoliate, but with a scalp scrub.
Every one to two weeks, switch it up with a physical exfoliant, like my Caffeinated Hair Scrub. All of that product build up will be buffed away in no time, and your scalp will appreciate the deep clean. Consider it the heavy duty facial for your scalp.
Keep ignoring those unsolicited DMs. But don’t ignore your scalp.
Step 3: Hydrate with a hair mask.
You know what comes after exfoliation. That’s right: hydration. Just like your skin, moisturising your hair is a must. Two to three times a week, swap your conditioner with my Caffeinated Hair Mask for extra nourishment. Warning: excessive shine and silkiness will immediately follow. Hope you’re prep-haired.
Step 4: Add oomph with a volumizing powder.
This bad boy can be used as both a Dry Shampoo and a volumizer. Do you ever wash your hair and think, “Gosh my hair looks flat”. This is where I come in. You can even apply me to clean hair to give those locks a hair salon lift.
So take a break from the harsh chemicals found in most dry shampoos. Instead, opt for a clean, powder-based version, like my Dry Clean Volume Powder — which can be used on both clean and oily hair. It’s multi-purpose, so the choice is yours.
Bad hair days? Not if I have anything to do with it, babe. Wink.
