Sally Spratt illustrates all her favourite things. And lucky for me, I’m included. She knows just how to capture my good side, so I asked her a bit more about her tricks and talent.
What’s the first thing you think about when you wake up?
Firstly the time (to check I’m not running late) and then the weather.
Then, what’s the first thing you do?
If it’s a beautiful day and before 7.30am, I like to go for a walk down to the beach and get coffee. This is all after scrolling through social media on my phone, of course.
Babes dream of being able to draw. Where did you first learn?
I first leant at school and at my after school art classes.
#letsbefrank I love a babe with brains and diligence.
Have you always loved it or did you once find it more challenging?
I have always loved it! I find it such an escape from reality and an opportunity to see life in a really whimsical, romantic and idealistic way. You can create your own world through art.
You’ve worked for the likes of Bassike. Tell me a little about that experience as their graphic designer.
It was a great opportunity working with Bassike. They say the fastest way to lean is when you’re thrown in the deep end. I agree!
I had a wonderful manager whom I adored and learnt so much from. It was a crazy busy two years and I feel I walked away with an incredible experience and skill set under my belt.
And what made you leave to work as a freelancer?
I worked on freelance projects on the side for about a year and felt really fulfilled creatively. It was at the two year mark that I decided to throw caution to the wind and give freelance (full time) a go. I knew it wouldn’t be easy but I knew it would be an experience that would change my life.
If you’re not illustrating and creating, where will I find you?
At the beach, the gym, out with friends or relaxing with the family.
3 things people wouldn’t necessarily know about you?
- I am currently researching dogs at the moment in the hope to add a new member to my team.
- I have always loved the idea of surfing but I am terrified of sharks so don’t think it will ever progress…
- I’m a workaholic… probably not a surprise?!
Where would you like to see yourself and The Lust List in 5 years time?
I would like to expand the business and have more people on board.
I’d like to expand into a clothing line, children’s wear and accessories. Also, the thought of travelling around the world for work would be exciting.
One dream client?
I have so many! But I would love the opportunity to work with Chanel, Dior, Dolce and Gabbana, Louis Vuitton or any of the big lust worthy brands.
You’re familiar with my product range. What am I like to draw?
The packaging was fun but the granules were difficult.
And how do I fit into your beauty regime?
I haven’t had the opportunity to try this product yet, however I would definitely feel very pampered when using this. I would make sure to use it at least twice/three times a week! I have heard such great reviews.
Who should frank put on his to scrub / dirty talk list?
Liberty & Somer Watson from Watson X Watson.
Until the next time you draw and I watch,
xx frank
