In the meantime, all I can offer is some frank advice to see you through.
Be kind to your bod, babe.
So that’s less boxing, more yoga. Although you may be feeling
hormonal, agitated, slightly aggressive not yourself, there’s no need to exert your bod. Ease the pain with gentle exercises and some light cardio. This will help stretch those abdominal muscles, increase blood flow and give you quick relief from cramps. It also releases endorphins so you feel more relaxed. See, even stretching down to scrub your feet can be beneficial. Hint hint.
Follow your heart to that hamburger.
During that time of the month, babes lose a lot of iron. This is why a babe may crave a hamburger or steak or a mountain of spinach. Bulk up your meals with extra iron such as lentils, kidney beans, chickpeas and dark leafy greens. It’s also important to eat regularly as your body needs food more often. I’ve pulled together some good recipe ideas here.
Don’t skip on the greens.
Broccoli & brussel sprouts are where it’s at. They will massage you from the inside out, ridding you of discomfort, easing bloating and tackling what I like to call ‘fluffies’.
Eat some chocolate.
And that’s not a whole block, babe (winkey face). Enjoy a little dark chocolate to increase your serotonin and endorphins which make you feel better about life. You can read more about the benefits of chocolate here.
Make yourself comfortable.
Do whatever makes you feel good. Some babes tell me that getting through this time is about wearing comfortable clothes, getting 8 hours of beauty sleep every night and enjoying a nice hot bath to make you feel like a Grecian goddess. Some even throw in a repeat of The Notebook. I think: if in doubt, cry it out.
