I do skin. But babes have hair. So I enlisted a man-babe I trusted to maintain their luscious locks.
Joey Scandizzo is that guy. He is family first, business second. I like that.
Whilst he doesn’t like to drink coffee, it’s okay; I forgave him. Luckily he likes to scrub with it. #letsbefrank, who doesn’t. As I don’t have hair, he couldn’t style mine. However he did style my latest campaign, and the 8 babes I round up to get dirty and clean with me.
What’s the first thing you think of when you wake up?
Jagger. He makes that much noise.. singing and just generally loving life.
Then, what’s the first thing you do?
To be honest, go to the toilet. I can be honest with you, right?
I then run 10km around the tan every morning. I have been doing it for 17 years now, it’s my own time. If it’s raining, I’ll hit the gym.
Coffee order?
I’m sorry, I don’t drink coffee. Never have. At the moment I’m in an Acai phase.
Best tip to make your hair grow?
Regular trims. Every 8-10 weeks will have your hair shining and will stimulate growth. If you have a more styled look, you might have to look at 6-8 weeks.
If a girl has an extra 5 minutes to do her hair – what would you recommend?
Plait your hair when it’s damp, preferably the night before. This way you’ll have beachy waves by morning.
You recently had yourself a junior frankfurt with baby-mama Jane; how’s parenthood?
I’m absolutely loving it. Jane is the perfect mum, and best possible person to have a family with. Having the perfect partner makes such a difference. Jane is loving motherhood, and taking some time off work to focus on it. I have Wednesdays and Sundays off to spend time with the both of them, and start later in the mornings. My favourite part of the day is bathing Jagger at night.
Running between straight and curly hair, when do you fit in time for the family?
I’m not going to lie, it’s hard to juggle it all. But you need family time, and you need to make that effort. My days off are family first.
It’s a Sunday morning, where will we find you (apart from in the surf with me #letsbefrank)?
If I’ve been in the water, you’ll find me at Surfcoast Wholefood after a good surf. If I’m in the city, I’m usually at Drugstore with Jane and Jagger having breakfast, reading the paper.
I’m eagerly awaiting my family scrub session – is this on the cards?
Yeah, I’ll do it. Can’t wait.
You tamed the manes of the models in my latest campaign, how did you find my crazy requests?
No brief is too crazy for me these days. I’ve honestly had it all. But I loved the relaxed feel of the campaign. Leaving rollers in the hair, a towel on a babes head – whatever floats your boat. You’re my type of guy.
What was your favourite style to do in the campaign?
I thought the best was the rollers. It genuinely looked like she had just jumped out of bed and was ready for her routine. A blow wave is something we do daily – it was nice to do something out of the ordinary.
What do you look for in the hair care products you use?
I just always reach for Miracle Hair by Eleven. It’s simple, easy to use and gives the hair 11 benefits it shouldn’t live without. Everyone’s hair responds well to it, and the coconut smell reminds me of summer.
Best hair in the world?
Hmm, Lady Gaga – she’s interesting. I feel like she’d be up for anything being done to her hair which I’d enjoy. Bloke-wise, David Beckham is where it’s at. He revolutionised hair cuts for men in the last two decades and would be a legend to work with.
Who should frank put on his to scrub/dirty talk list?
Kelly Slater. Gnarly.
I look forward to our next date in the salon, studio or surf. But first, our family scrub session.
xx frank
