Interview with Hey Tiger.

I got down and dirty with Mirte Van der Lugt, Chief Brand Officer at Hey Tiger.

We got talking about chocolate (both bars and scrubs), skincare, and life. Although #letsbefrank, chocolate is life.

First things first, what’s your go-to coffee order?

Oat Cap – extra choc on top, naturally.

Now we’ve got that covered, tell me about Hey Tiger.

We’re a handmade chocolate brand and social enterprise, based in Melbourne Australia. We’re all about pairing an amazing product, a unique brand experience with a healthy dose of humour and meaningful social impact.

As you might know, the cocoa industry is a broken one. So when Cyan Ta’eed, our amazing founder, thought to herself; “How can something (chocolate) that gives us so much joy, do so much harm in the world?” I feel it speaks to her character that she then decided to positively change this notorious industry from the inside by starting Hey Tiger.

I’m incredibly proud that Hey Tiger is more than just chocolate and that our team’s hard work truly has a positive impact on the world.

Hey Tiger is proof that chocolate is good for you (and the world). What’s your favourite Hey Tiger flavour?

I never was a white chocolate fan but WOW! The amazing chocolatiers at Hey Tiger have converted me! Crunchy yet creamy ‘And Chill’ (Macadamia and Cocoa Crumb) is now my go-to bar.

Now I know what’s in your snack drawer. But what’s on your beauty shelf?

  • The Skincare Company – AHA & BHA Exfoliant
  • Vitamin C Serum
  • Ultra Violette Queen Screen Sunscreen 50+
  • Wella Skin Food – Light
  • NARS Concealer
  • Bobby Brown Smudge Proof Mascara
  • Fluff Bronzer
  • Tinted Lip balm

Have you got a favourite scrub?

I just had a baby so I’m loving your Baby Mumma Kit!

This month I’m throwing it back to my favourite decade: the 90s. What are your favourite things from the 90s?

I’m from the Netherlands so I’m not sure if we had the same trends but in the early 90’s, I loved my Furby, Flippo’s and Tamagotchi. In the late 90’s, I was into purple hair dye, baggy skate jeans and tight tops… oh and not washing my hair, but we don’t talk about that.

Have you got any frank advice for my frankfurts?

In today’s polarising world, let’s try and question ourselves and attempt to see each other’s humanity. We might have contradicting beliefs, opinions and perspectives but ultimately, each of us are battling life in our own way. As Voltaire says; “Doubt is an uncomfortable condition. But certainty is a ridiculous one.” Oh, and when you’re trying to find common ground with someone, chocolate!

Finish the sentence: when life gets dirty…

… bonds are forged!

If you’ve got a chocolate craving to satisfy, Hey Tiger has the goods here.

And if you’re looking for chocolate for your body, I’ve got just the scrub for you.
