We are nothing without our health.

I love natural and nutritious things. #letsbefrank, I’m obsessed with them. So it seemed only reasonable to meet up with one of Australia’s leading nutritionists, and all round babes Jessica Sepel.

She is not only an inspiration in what she eats and how she treats her body, but also how she lives her life. Inspiring babes of all walks of life, I can now see why.

I didn’t just get to chat with her, she’s letting me help her get wedding-ready.

Scrubbing is number 1 on the list. #thefrankeffect

f: What’s the first thing you think of when you wake up? And first thing you do?

J: I think about how grateful I am to be living in my dream home with my dream guy – seriously. I really do wake up feeling grateful. It’s the best way to start the day. First thing I do is stretch and quickly meditate – I find it helps me get centred.

f: Your perfect workday entails:

J: Meeting with and researching the needs of my clients. I absolutely adore them, and it’s so exciting witnessing the breakthroughs they have. And of course, I love spending time building JSHealth. Writing and blogging is one of my favourite things to do, and I’m so grateful to have a team of women who are just as passionate about wellness as I am.

f: You have three hours off work – what do you do?

J: Rest! Honestly, rest is the best thing I can do for myself. I love spending time in the stress free zone where I can switch off my phone and just have some ‘me’ time. I’ll read a book, practice some yoga, go for a walk or take a nap. It’s absolutely essential, even if it’s just 30 minutes a day.

f: Your favourite non-food guilty pleasure?

J: I love relaxing in bed catching up on some TV – Scandal is a favourite.

f: It’s a Sunday morning, what are you doing?

J: Making a big, beautiful, nourishing breakfast with my fiance`. We love making pancakes and then taking a walk by the beach. Heaven.

f: You’re a leading nutritionist, eating bulk greens daily. What’s your cheat/favourite junk food? (Come on, everyone has to have one).

J: Oh definitely. I am a firm believer in indulging once in a while – and even though my tastes have changed in that I don’t need things to be as sweet, I always have a weakness for carrot cake. It’s me absolute weakness.

f: It’s 3am, you’ve been out drinking. What’s your go-to binge?

J: To be totally honest, my late night drinking days are in the past. I really need my 8 hours of sleep to function. I do love red wine however, but I’m more than happy with a glass or two.

f: How do you feel about the superfood craze?

J: I think it’s all about moderation. You’ve got to do what you can with what you have, and I recognise that some superfoods just aren’t as accessible or affordable. Leafy greens, however, are non-negotiable. I truly believe they have the power to help us thrive. Get them in whenever and however you can!

f: You’re driven, busy and always doing something different. What do you do in your downtime? How do you chill out, your brain and your body?

J: The stress free zone is a must everyday. I love reading, yoga, writing in my journal, being outside in nature and taking baths. It rejuvenates me and helps keep me grounded and going.

I try really hard to empower young girls and encourage them to love their own body. You battled with this yourself in your younger years.

f: What was the turning point for you and what’s the best advice you could give to my babes?

J: Like many women, I struggled with my own body image for most of my teenage years and early 20s. Then something clicked – I realised that hating on my body was affecting everything in my life. I had already started my nutritional studies and began to view the food I ate and the way I treated my body in a different way. I truly believe in the power of positive affirmations – I recommend everyone start their day with them in mind. They are life-changing!

f: That one quote you try to live by?

J: We are nothing without our health. Healthy living itself keeps me motivated, energised, and gives me a feeling that I can do anything and everything.

f: And finally, who should I put on my to scrub / dirty talk list?

J: I’ve had so much fun getting to know other health bloggers on this journey – you should definitely chat with Hannah Bronfman, Lola Berry and the Base Body Babes!
