Parakeets.

Parachutes.

They’re all fine.

But Parabens? Not so much.

My babes are a knowledgeable bunch who like to know what goes in and on their bods. But every now and again, I need to get out the white lab coat and do further investigation. And my microscope is undressing you, very, very slowly. Oh, hang on. Where were we? That’s right Parabens.

What are Parabens?

Parabens are preservatives that fight off bacteria or fungus.

Okay, that sounds good. Where do we find them?

Go to the bathroom. Open the cabinet and take me out. Now take a look. Voila. There they are. Parabens are found in cosmetic and personal care products such as deodorant, lipstick and makeup. Those are man-made or chemical parabens. They also occur naturally in lower levels in foods such as strawberries and currants. But those parabens aren’t the ones babes are worried about.

So, what’s the problem?

You see, when natural parabens are eaten your body’s metabolism breaks it down. But when the chemical version is applied to your skin, they’re absorbed into your body at a more concentrated level. Some scientists believe that these parabens can interfere with the body’s hormones which can boost the growth of breast tumors. But no one is 100% sure.

Why are they not in me?

Because I believe skincare should be simple with ingredients that are good enough to eat (but please don’t). So all you’ll find in my products are natural and naturally derived ingredients with names you can pronounce. Instead, I use antioxidants such as Vitamin E that can help extend the shelf life of all my products. Plus, I only test on babes.

Got another ingredient you want to know about?

Check out my periodic table.
